HARDIN, IL — Excitement filled the halls of Calhoun Elementary and Junior High School today as students and staff came together to celebrate outstanding athletic accomplishments from across the district.
In collaboration with Brussels Elementary, St. Mary’s, and St. Norbert's Elementary, the school hosted a spirited “clap-out” to honor student-athletes for their hard work, determination, and success. During the celebration, students proudly paraded through the halls of CEJHS while their peers and teachers lined the corridors, cheering them on and recognizing their achievements.
Among those honored were the 5th grade boys basketball team, who recently claimed the championship title at the AJ Classic. Also recognized were the 7th and 8th grade girls volleyball teams for their impressive performances, each securing regional championships.
To make the day even sweeter, all students were treated to doughnuts as part of the celebration, adding to the festive atmosphere and sense of community pride.
School officials extended their gratitude to the teachers, staff, and parents whose continued support helps students succeed both on and off the court. Appreciation was also shared for the partnering schools that helped make the event possible by bringing their students together for the special occasion.
Today’s celebration served as a powerful reminder of the dedication and teamwork demonstrated by Calhoun’s student-athletes. Congratulations were extended to all students for their remarkable accomplishments and for representing their schools with pride.
